The cyanobacterium, Nostoc punctiforme can protect against programmed cell death and induce defence genes in Arabidopsis thaliana

چکیده
Cyanobacteria can form nitrogen-fixing symbioses with a broad range of plant species. Unlike other plant-bacteria symbioses, little is understood about the immunological responses induced by cyanobionts (symbiotic cyanobacteria). Here, we demonstrated that model plant-symbiotic cyanobacteria, Nostoc punctiforme capable protecting against programmed cell death (PCD) when in Arabidopsis thaliana suspension cultures. We also profiled early transcriptomic changes were response to conditioned medium (CM) from N. Interestingly, reduction PCD was preceded induction genes associated defence and immunity, most striking which number WRKY-family transcription factors. Down-regulated included those involved regulation growth differentiation. This work first show cyanobiont affect provides useful transcriptome resource for studying symbiotic cyanobacteria.

Garlic Extract Can Induce Apoptotic Cell Death in The Human Colon Adenocarcinoma HT29 Cell Line
Background and Objective: Garlic has been known worldwide as a dietary constituent with many pharmacological effects. The present in vitro study was designed to investigate the putative anticancer effect of garlic extract on cancer cells, and if this effect was through apoptosis induction. Material and Methods: Human colon adenocarcinoma cells HT29 were treated with different doses (1, 5 a...

متن کاملHemotrophic mycoplasmas induce programmed cell death in red blood cells.
Hemotrophic mycoplasmas (HM) are uncultivable bacteria found on and in the red blood cells (RBCs). The main clinical sign of HM infections is the hemolytic anemia. However, anemia-inducing pathogenesis has not been totally clarified. In this work we used the splenectomized pig as animal model and Mycoplasma suis as a representative for hemotrophic mycoplasmas to study anemia pathogenesis. Erypt...
متن کاملHow can fibrinolysis induce cell death?
In this issue of Blood, Guo and colleagues elucidate molecular details of a novel mechanism, linking the degradation of fibrin (but not fibrinogen) by plasmin to apoptosis of placental trophoblast cells. There is convincing evidence from the literature that disorders of the maternal coagulation system are associated with complications of pregnancy including fetal loss. In many studies, an assoc...
متن کاملEngineering cytochrome-modified silica nanoparticles to induce programmed cell death.
A low native membrane permeability and ineffective access to the cellular cytosol, together with aggressive proteolytic degradation, often severely hampers the practical application of any therapeutic protein or antibody. Through engineering the charging profile of mesoporous silica nanoparticles, cellular uptake and subsequent subcellular distribution can be controlled. We show herein that pro...
